** I had little hands helping me over the Christmas period and a few pendants were drilled slightly off centre, I have amended them, the hole is a little lager than I would like so these pendants are reduced.
Its a detail that you wouldn't notice but | do so wouldn't sell them at full price. **
Cast in eco silver and hung from an 18 inch sterling silver chain, this pendant is a quiet statement of resilience and intent. The hand-finished medallion bears the words “FAIL WE MAY / SAIL WE MUST”, encircling a timeless anchor, a symbol of holding fast while continuing forward. It’s a mantra for living, an acceptance of risk, failure, and uncertainty. A piece to wear when times are hard, and when they’re not, because sailing is the point.
I designed this pendant as a tribute to the great Andrew Weatherall, who carried the phrase inked on his arms beneath anchor tattoos.
Over time, the words have come to mean far more to far more people. This necklace has travelled far and wide, chosen for all sorts of reasons. To mark loss or change, to offer strength during illness or grief, to celebrate survival, reinvention, or simply the courage to keep going. Each wearer brings their own story to it, and the meaning continues to evolve and I’m forever grateful for the stories you share with me.
The imperfect, wax seal stamp form gives each pendant an organic, tactile quality, no two are exactly the same. Worn close to the heart, it becomes both a tribute and a touchstone, permission to fail, and a reminder that stopping is never the answer.
A talisman for anyone weathering difficult times and for anyone who believes that, whatever happens, we must sail ⚓️
